>__________<!!!

I’m not really a dorama person, despite multiple friends’ attempts to drag me into the abyss – but dang this trailer for the upcoming Moyashimon drama looks AWESOME. Random talking microbes FTW – they look so freakin’ adorable!!! Of all the anime to adapt into live-action I never would’ve picked Moyashimon. But since it’s been done, YES. Must remember to pick this up once it starts airing this July. Thank you Japan!

From Japanator: “Moyashimon drama to look like anime’s opening” xD

As always, I have a huge collection of anime sitting around that someday, SOMEDAY I will go through and finish all. But I stumbled upon Japanator’s Spring ’10 Preview and quickly found myself tempted by quite a few upcoming series. I’ve been trying really hard not to add more series to my already long to-watchlist, but it looks like there’ll be lots of exciting new shows this spring :D

I recently learned that NEET stands for “Not in Employment, Education or Training.” I looked it up because it was referenced in Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei episode 9, and I had no idea what it meant.

Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei - NEET

Is that sad? It’s a little sad, isn’t it? :?

Was doing my usual browsing of the internets when I came across this excellent, thought-provoking article: “On Translation” by Matt Thorn.

Manga translation further requires an ear for voice.

In any decent manga, each character has a distinctive style of speech. In some cases it is more subtle than in others. It seems that most manga translators today (Have any of them lived more than a year in Japan?) have their noses buried in their dictionaries, translating word by word, rather than looking at the speech as a whole, and considering the personality, background, and mindset of the speaker.

They cannot see the forest for the trees.

I had watched this YouTube video quite a while back, but dug it up again tonight after chatting to a friend about my inability to jump in games. I had remembered this being hilariously funny – and it still is. It’s a combination of the the cursing, the accent, and the d00d’s crazy mad skills in commentating and gaming. I bow down to his leetness because if it was me, I’d die and give up trying after the first three seconds.

My boyfriend was flipping through the channels last night, and he ended up settling for the second half of August Rush. We’d seen it before, but I had forgotten how awesome the soundtrack was. The guitar slapping song, “Raise It Up” (that little girl has an amazing, amazing voice)… all really great music, but my favorite is definitely “August’s Rhapsody“. It’s hauntingly beautiful and never fails to give me the chills, especially near the middle-end. Perfect note to end this movie on!

Last week I made omurice for the first time. The first two were a bit misshapen, but by the third try I managed to make a properly-formed omurice! I was so proud of it that I grabbed a camera to commemorate the success – but not before I took a bite out of it to make sure it tasted ok :D

I’ve been so hungry these last couple of days, and I couldn’t figure out why. I had regular meals, but at random hours of the night/day I’d start gnawing on my boyfriend because of the mysterious hunger pangs. I think it’s because I’ve been vectoring/staring at my new wall, which has takoyaki in it.

Damn you, yummy-looking takoyaki!!

Takoyaki

The title… really says it all here…

The site credited for the video is definitely worth checking out too :D Even though some of the posts made me cringe and others I didn’t dare click/watch… it’s definitely good for laughs! WTF Japan, Seriously!?
