Just added a 1920×1280 version of my Code Geass The Dark and White Knights wall to Pixel Ellipsis, per LockonImpulse’s request:

I’ve waffled over whether or not to add a “Requests” page to Pixel Ellipsis. At one point I actually put up a Requests page, but chickened out and took it down because I like to wall on my own time (AKA slow as hell, when the fancy strikes) and I have a longstanding rule to only wall things I’ve watched or read before. Plus I imagine it’d be disappointing to put in an “official” request and then have it sink into the deep black hole of no responses.

But the open secret is that at the end of the day, I do like getting wallpaper requests because it’s gratifying to make walls that people want to use. For things like cropping an alternate resolution for a wallpaper, that’s usually fairly simple for me to do and I’m happy to oblige. For more specific requests like walling a particular anime series, it’s a bit trickier, but I do keep a running list of requests that I’ve received, whether it be from tweets, Pixel Ellipsis comments, or online walling communities. Twitter is my preferred channel for requests right now because I get an automated email whenever someone mentions me, followed closely by comments on Pixel Ellipsis.

So – no promises, but if you ever feel like sneaking in a request, I’ll take it under serious consideration. And who knows, one of these days I might actually deliver :D

I guess this isn’t really news any more, but I was still surprised when I stumbled across the announcement for a new season of Code Geass. As much as I enjoyed Code Geass and as much as I’m a fan of the series, I gotta say my first reaction was – why? And my second reaction was, WHY?! The first two seasons were great, the story was neat, the ending was sufficiently mindblowing, and it is good. Does Sunrise really have to milk this series for all its worth? I know Geass was popular, but it just smacks too much of Hollywood for me… all those bad sequels being pumped out one after another in blatant attempts to squeeze every bit of money out of tired franchises until fans want to scream.

Lelouch

Maybe I’m being overly pessimistic and cynical about Code Geass R3, especially since not much information has been released yet and we don’t know if it’ll be a remake, sequel, or spin-off. And I could end up loving it and think it’s the next best thing since sliced bread, but urgh. It hasn’t even been two years since R2 finished its run. My new theory on anime remakes or continuations to series that have already ended, and ended well, is that studios should leave well enough alone for at least five years before they try anything new. Not that that will ever happen, especially with popular series. But still, one could hope? :x

On a more lighthearted note,

I personally adore the Doraemon one because it’s such a throwback to my childhood days, but yeah. I want one. ZOMG GROVEL AT TEH CUTENESS!!

April 6, 2010 UPDATE: Looks like R3′ll either be a sequel or a in-betweener. Not sure how I feel about either concepts :|

After reaching the second Excalibur-filler episode of Soul Eater, I decided to take a break from Soul Eater for a while (that damn holy sword really manages to be insanely annoying!) and started on Code Geass R2. And it immediately sucked me in (again). I freaking love watching two antagonists with strong world beliefs go at each other – the pleasure I get from watching Lelouche and Suzaku is very similar to the feeling I get with Light from Death Note. As bad as Light is, you can’t fault him for not going all out on what he believes in. And in my book determination and all-out action are what elevates characters to serious badass-ness.
