Things have been pretty quiet around here, mostly because I went on a month-long vacation, came back for about two weeks, and will be off traveling again tomorrow for a week :D Can’t complain, for sure, but all this fun has killed off most of my motivation to wall. Anyways! Pixel Ellipsis will be down for a brief period of time after July 10th. Hopefully it won’t be longer than a day at most, but I’m not exactly sure how long it will be. The reason for this downtime is really silly – my hosting provider assigns “free domain credits” on a yearly basis, and for some reason they can’t give me the new credit for the next year until the day AFTER the domain expiration date… I don’t know why they can’t just give me credit for the whole 3 years if I’ve signed up for a 3 year hosting package, but anyways, that’s that. I’ll be back from my trip on July 10th so I do plan to monitor the situation closely.

Yay for epic Ghibli-inspired works! More photos and behind-the-scenes notes available via the original source links, so definitely give those a look! :D

I originally wanted to make January Studio Ghibli Month in honor of Hayao Miyazaki‘s 70th birthday, but as I started browsing through scans I realized that I had too many wall ideas and not enough time to deliver. So I figured, why not make this a year-long personal project? Expect to see a lot more Ghibli-related blog posts, tweets, and of course, Ghibli/Miyazaki walls from me throughout the year! This is not to say that I’ll only be making Studio Ghibli walls in 2011, but I will be prioritizing those WIPs. In the meantime, if there are any Studio Ghibli films that you’d like to see more walls for, please let me know!

P.S. Just realized that I’d forgotten to enable multiple selections – you can now vote for more than one Ghibli films that you’d like to see more walls of!

I was incredibly jealous when I saw these on Tim Maughan’s blog. Not only because these Ponyo cupcakes look fantastic, but also because his girlfriend made these scrumptious delights for him.

I’ve tried hooking my long-time boyfriend onto anime by starting him with a couple of my favorites – the Cowboy Bebop movie, Millennium Actress, and I may have also tried a Ghibli movie with him too. None of these worked, so I’m resigned to being the open-closet otaku in this relationship. We’ll camp out on the couch to watch Bones or Australia’s Greatest Athlete, but any anime will have to be watched on my spare time (and usually when he’s not around). Certainly I won’t be getting any cool Ponyo cupcakes from HIM anytime soon, sigh
